Stop #16 Joshua Tree National Park and The High Desert Area

Harsh desert realities, new jobs, and some epic climbing has provided Will and Bob with tales of fun and adventure.

A month has passed and somehow Will and Bob are still alive. Seriously though, Will almost died during a climb which would have left Bob without a best friend and more importantly, a climbing partner. Meanwhile, the High Desert has decieved Will and Bob by throwing nightly sandstorms and below feezing temperatures their direction on a regular basis. Nobody told them this would happen. Fortunately, with some help from the 1975 Starcraft camper along with heating blankets and an electric heater, the boys have stayed comfortable and shown the dessert whos boss. There is nothing Will and Bob can handle; except the freezing cold showers they endure. Those blow. Landlord Joe doesn't have a water heater, however, Will and Bob have possibly convinced him to get one for the upcoming winter weather (fingers crossed). The days have kept them busy while exploring the vast amounts of climbing both in and out of J-tree. They've spent a sizeable amount of time projecting a tough route at The DMZ in Landers, CA and stumbled upon a garbage and graffiti riddled climbing crag called Ghost Road Area in Johnson Valley. In J-tree they've honed in on their skills in trad-climbing and have conqured the two largest routes in the park (elevation-wise). Amongst all the fun and adventure, Will and Bob have also landed new jobs, alowing them to contribute more to society and well, not be useless. That's all for now. Stay tuned for more posts in the upcoming weeks.
