Wandering around some woods, showering in subzero mountain streams, climbing smooth rocks and whipping on trad gear. (Sept 25th - Sept 30st)

Will and Bob found themselves in the heart of the mountains, a welcome change of scenery from the rolling plains they had been surrounded by for so long. They pulled into their campsite, off of exit 47, next to a mountain stream in the largest forest they had ever seen. The stream provided a relaxing ambience to their site, however when it came time to shower in it the ambience was all but washed away. Near ice-cold water certainly gets the job done, but not at all comfortably... Will avoided showering for the rest of their stay.

With plenty to climb in the area, Will and Bob set their sights high and looked to climb Mount Garfield, a 23 pitch 5.10c route with 100ft run-outs and very little gear placement opportunity... unfortunately, or fortunately depending on how one looks at it, road closures didn't allow them to access the climb. So they spent the next few days climbing several other locations, and wandering around aimlessly for hours in the woods trying to find other locations.

During their time in North Bend, Will and Bob found themselves perfecting and modifying their camper, pushing their trad climbing skills to the next level, taking first whippers on placed gear, and soaking in the beautiful scenery.

Places climbed:

Exit 38 The Far Side

Exit 38 Deception Crags

Exit 32 World Wall 1
